1948 Stone House

Boulder, Colorado

Historic Charm Meets Modern Amenity

For this charming original 1948 Boulder bungalow, my design objective was to honor the property's historic character while introducing necessary modern updates. I undertook a complete renovation of the kitchen, carefully selecting finishes that blend seamlessly with the home's original period.

To modernize the functionality without disrupting the aesthetic, I installed an induction cooktop and a hidden exhaust system, keeping the visual lines clean. I paired these appliances with beautiful quartzite countertops for durability and elegance. Perhaps the most impactful change was the addition of a new window, which now floods the previously dark space with natural light. To unify the main level, I revitalized the original wood flooring, creating a seamless flow from the newly renovated kitchen into the dining and living rooms.

In the two bathrooms, I took a more spirited approach. I injected personality into the home by selecting fun, playful wallpaper, and completely updated the spaces with new light fixtures, custom tiling, and modern vanities to create a fresh, inviting atmosphere.
